january goals

In addition to my theme for the year, I am also setting monthly goals. While my theme will help to shape my year as a whole, the monthly goals will help to guide the specifics of each day. It can be overwhelming to keep a resolution for an entire year, so I'm focusing on maintaining these for just one month. Each month I will share my goals with you in hopes that it provides me accountability, which is something that helps me to follow through. Without further adieu, my January goals!

one. clean out my inbox

Nothing like a fresh start, right? I don't mind some promotional emails (girl's gotta know when there's a sale!), but I've found that my inbox has gotten quite cluttered with emails that I don't even remember signing up for. The easiest way for me to do this is not to tackle them all at once, but instead, I take 2 seconds to click "unsubscribe" any time I come across an email I no longer want. By the end of the month, I should have a clean(er) inbox!

two. complete eight workouts

To some, this may seem like a lot, to others, very little. Regardless, it's what I'm aiming for! I think approximately two workouts per week is a good start. I take walks pretty consistently, but want to add more actual workouts to the mix.

three. read two books

Again, starting small here. In general, I want to read more in 2018. I love reading, but I tend to let things that take less brainpower take up my free time. Looking at you, Netflix, and pretty much only at you. Having a concrete goal of how many books I want to read will help me prioritize it in my day. Let me know if you have any good recommendations!

four. turn off my phone for one hour per day

I find myself constantly distracted by my phone, even without it lighting up with messages or notifications. I'm taking one hour per day to shut it down as a way to eliminate the unnecessary distraction. I try to choose a time in the day when I want to focus on a project I am doing, whether at work or at home. I never realized how hard it is for me to focus on one thing for an hour until now!

five. write a letter

This is actually more of a yearly goal. Once per month, I want to sit down and write a letter to a friend or family member. This is another thing I love to do, but struggle to make time for. It's also a win-win, because who doesn't like to receive a handwritten letter??
