2018 in review

Well, folks, we made it! 2018 has come to a close. I don't think I could have even come close to predicting the roller coaster that the year was. And I do mean a roller coaster- there were some high highs and some low lows. But overall, I felt like it was a good year. I was able to face some very “adult” challenges (I rolled over a 401k this year, guys) and learn a lot in the process. My theme was to “choose the bigger life” and I truly feel l accomplished that through pursuing my hobbies more intensely and opening my social calendar up more. Before I move on to all the exciting things 2019 has to offer, I wanted to reflect on some of the highlights (and lowlights) from 2018.

In 2018, I….
- Saw Waitress the musical with my friend Emily

- Choreographed How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying for my high school

- Played one of Reno’s angels in Anything Goes

- Spoke on panel for the Wisconsin School of Business (my alma mater)

- Had to buy a new engine for my car after it broke down in the middle of the street

- Turned 24 and celebrated with friends from different areas of my life

- Lost my job as a result of the company going out of business

- Became an aunt for the fifth time with the birth of my second niece, Charlotte Jo

- Played an Elf, a villager, a Duloc dancer, a tapping rat, and a blind mouse in Shrek the Musical

- Woke up at 4 AM to watch the royal wedding

- Spent 10 days in Europe exploring London, Paris, and Madrid

- Started a new job (the day after returning from Europe…the jet lag was real)

- Went on family vacation in Georgia (where we were mere feet away from getting struck by lightning)

- Got a new oven because my old one was leaking gas…not great

- Started choreographing for the show choir I was in in high school

- Was a part of the ensemble in Mary Poppins

- Saw my little sister play volleyball at a local university

- Locked myself out of my sister’s house when dog-sitting (some fun details about that: I was locked out for about an hour with no phone, no car keys, and no shoes on. It was a tad stressful at the time, but mostly just a funny story)

- Took a road trip to South Dakota with my parents to see my little sister play more volleyball

- Completed jury duty for the first time

- Said goodbye to my grandma as she was called to her heavenly home

- Ended the year by celebrating Christmas with my family and then fighting a stomach bug that kept me on the couch for three days…

Phew! I'm not going to lie, I'm hoping for a less turbulent 2019. But, as always, we can never predict what God has in store for us. And the older I get, the more I trust in His plan for me.

Wishing you all a happy and healthy New Year!!

xoxo
